Wild Lettuce
Wild Lettuce (Lactuca virosa), also known as opium and great lettuce, is an herb native to central and southern Europe, but has since spread to many regions of the world. This dried, wild lettuce is ideal for making tea. The effect is similar to opium but without the addictive side effects. It supports a normal night's sleep.
Effects
- The effects of wild lettuce are similar to those of opium, but are milder in nature.
- The active ingredients of wild lettuce are neither opiates nor addictive.
- Wild lettuce has also historically been used to improve the clarity of dreams.
Use
- The best way to use wild lettuce is to make a tea of it.
- Put 1-2 teaspoons in a cup or tea infuser and fill the cup with boiling water.
- Let it steep for 10-15 minutes before drinking.
It is also possible to make an extract with dried wild lettuce.
- Soak the plant matter in warm (not boiling) water for 8 hours.
- Strain the plant remains and squeeze out the moisture.
- The dark liquid must then be heated in a bain-marie to remove excess moisture.
- In the end, a sticky, thick substance should remain.
