Matcha is a classic Japanese tea powder made from finely ground green tea leaves. When consuming matcha, you use 1 whole stick of matcha, which helps you absorb all the healthy nutrients. It is therefore very important that the matcha is completely free of chemicals. Matcha clearly meets these requirements. Our tea is grown in a special, organic environment in Kagoshima, without the use of pesticides or herbicides. Even the nearby farms are organic, so you are assured of a pure and natural tea.
Matcha varies greatly in quality, ranging from culinary varieties to premium ceremonial varieties. High-quality ceremonial matcha is noted for its vibrant green hue, mild umami aroma, and low bitterness. Below are several ways to make our matcha:
Ceremonial Matcha
- Heat your bamboo whisk (chasen) in a bowl of boiling water.
- Sift 2 grams of matcha into a dry bowl (chawan).
- Add 60 ml of water at 80 to 90 °C (not boiling). Beat the chasen in an M or
- Z-motion until a creamy foam layer is formed.
Fast and easy way
- Add 2 grams of matcha (1 stick) to a shaker or glass.
- Add 60 ml of cold water (80 to 90°C).
- Stir or shake thoroughly until the matcha is completely dissolved.
Matcha latte
- Prepare the matcha using one of the techniques mentioned above.
- Place warm milk or vegetable milk in a glass.
- Add the cooked matcha.
- For an iced latte: Add ice cubes before mixing the milk and matcha.
- Options: sweeten with honey or syrup for an extra twist.
